Ambientia
March 31, 2006

Ambientia is a huge place indeed!  My existence here thus far has been made insignificantly small in the past weeks.  I have seen things about this land that one can only experience.  Knowing what I know now about Ambientia, this is true because your experience here might be quite different than mine.  What one experiences here seems to be molded by what the Ambient mind dictates.  I can only share with you what I see here, and what I have experienced since I wrote last, is truly amazing!

I entered the portal that I created at the broken gate and escaped the stormy weather to find myself in a large open field.  Once I entered the portal everything around me changed.  The sky morphed into a bright blue and the surrounding land gradually changed into the lush field that I found myself in.  A gentle breeze shifted the tall grasses that surrounded me.  As far as my eye could see was rolling landscape and for the first time in several days I felt comfortable.  It was almost as though Ambientia itself had taken pity on me for traveling in the bad weather and made this special haven just for me.

As I glanced around the landscape, a glimmer caught my eye.  I could not make out what it was, but it seemed to shimmer in the bright light of the two suns that were in the sky above.  I set off in the direction of the glimmering object, hoping that I would find some answers at last.  As I drew closer, the source of the glimmering light became apparent to me as I saw a small cabin in the distance.  This little cabin was lifted up off the ground by way of support stilts.  Once there, I found a narrow ladder and climbed up to the outer deck of this cabin.  There seemed to be nothing unusual about this cabin except for a large cone shaped rod that protruded from the roof of the cabin straight up into the air.  At my best guess this rod was approximately 10 feet in height.  Being elevated off of the ground gave me a better perspective on the lay of the land.  I peered out and noticed several other glimmering objects spaced out evenly around the perimeter if what I now saw as an ancient lake bed.  I found a door on the cabin, but it was locked.  There was no handle, no keyhole, but there was what appeared to be a slotted control panel of sorts, that resembled a speaker or a microphone.

Everything on Ambientia is controlled by music.  Certain tones are used to open a portal for these letters, for example.  I took the small portable device from the broken bridge area as I entered the portal to come here.  Perhaps now was a time to use it.  So, I powered it on, which I could not do in the storm, and it started generating a tone.  As I turned the knobs on the device, the tone not only changed in pitch but in other ways as well.  Each knob changed the sound in some unique way making the output of this device limitless it would seem.  In my experimenting with this device, I noticed that the symbol on the door itself started to react by glowing.  At last, a clue.  As I tuned around one particular tone, the symbol glowed brighter.  As I changed the settings, the symbol grew dimmer.  So, I focused on the tone that made the symbol glow and fine tuned the settings so as to make it glow brightest.  Perhaps this opened the door.  I has it at its brightest, but nothing happened to the door.  I tuned the device some more, and the symbol changed colour from amber to red.  With more tuning the symbol turned a bright aqua blue and the door dissolved away allowing me to walk into the cabin.

This cabin has wall-to-wall windows, much like an observation deck.  I can see all of the other glimmering objects in the distance from all sides of this cabin.  I have already looked into a viewing device positioned near the windows and aimed it at one of these objects. They appear to be other rods like the one on top of this cabin, only much larger.  It seems that this cabin is the central point to all of these other rods, or towers.  In the middle of this cabin is a large array of devices.  They look like some sort of broadcasting device because there is a microphone and a board that looks to accept inputs.  As well, there is something that I am familiar with - a small communications portal.  This is how this letter finds you now.
I am going to try to get this device running in the cabin.  My guess is that it is some sort of communication device.  If my Synthitone opens a communications portal to send small objects through, and I can now move to different parts of Ambientia (albeit I have only done this once through a portal), this network of towers must do something on a larger scale.  I will stay here to figure this out, as this could something to do with the recent changes on Ambientia.

The system appears to be powered off, save for a small blinking symbol on the control pad that looks like an old tape reel.  I wonder what it does?  Time to experiment...
